Julian Alvarez, currently at the Olympics with Argentina, is the latest on the list to be talked up as a potential future Gunner – and the path from Manchester City has already been cleared thanks to previous transfers.

Elsewhere Declan Rice has sent a parting message to Emile Smith Rowe after he completed his move across the capital to Fulham and an Italian wildcard winger is being talked up despite interest from a host of other Premier League sides.

Here are all the main transfer stories worth keeping tabs on from north London over the past 24 hours.

Alvarez the latest

Mikel Arteta has been urged to make a move for Manchester City ‘s wantaway striker Julian Alvarez .

The Argentine joined City in 2022 and he has since helped them to win two Premier League titles, the FA Cup , the Champions League and the Club World Cup. He has also enjoyed success on the international stage, winning two Copa Americas and the 2022 World Cup.

The 24-year-old was the breakout star of the latter tournament but has seen his game-time at City limited by the performance of Erling Haaland . With Alvarez making it clear he wants to move on , Arsenal boss Arteta has been told he could be the perfect signing.

Arteta has already raided City twice before, to sign Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandar Zinchenko in the summer of 2022. And former skipper William Gallas believes Alvarez can be the man to finally to finally fire the Gunners to their first title for 20 years.

Rice bids adieu

Declan Rice has sent a farewell message to Emile Smith Rowe after the midfielder sealed a record £34million transfer to Fulham .

The Arsenal academy graduate, 24, has been the subject of transfer interest from a number of Premier League clubs over the past 12 months after falling down the pecking order at the Emirates.

And following reports that Fulham had agreed to pay a club-record transfer fee for the midfield maestro, Smith Rowe completed his move on Friday afternoon , bringing an end to his long association with the Gunners.

Rice was one of the first Arsenal players to respond to the news and he shared a post on his Instagram story.

Chiesa chatter

Arsenal are among a host of clubs interested in Juventus star Federico Chiesa – a player who Jurgen Klopp had eyed as his ideal Mohamed Salah replacement at Liverpool.

Italian trickster Chiesa has been linked with a move to England for some time. He caught the eye during Italy’s Euro 2020 triumph, proving a handful for every defender he faced.

But a number of other top sides are keen too.
