Sharon Stone will leave America if Trump elected president again over ‘hate and oppression’

Sharon Stone arrives on the red carpet at the 49th Chaplin Awards

Sharon Stone has vowed to leave her home country of America if Donald Trump is elected President for the second time.

The election is just months away, with both the Democrat and Republican campaigns ramping up after current president Joe Biden confirmed he wouldn’t be running for re-election.

Instead, hoping to keep the Democrats in the White House will be current Vice President Kamala Harris, who is already ahead of Trump in some polls.

One person desperately hoping for a Harris victory is American actress Sharon Stone, 66, who has vowed to up sticks and leave the country if the Republicans regain power in November.

The Basic Instinct actress revealed her plans in the eventuality of a Trump victory: ‘I am certainly considering a house in Italy. I think that’s an intelligent construct at this time.’

She told MailOnline: ‘This is one of the first times in my life that I’ve actually seen anyone running for office on a platform of hate and oppression.’

Since announcing his first bid for the Presidency back in 2015, the attitudes Trump has espoused have come in for serious criticism in the center and left of American politics.

His first campaign, and eventual victory in the 2016 election, was defined by promises to build ‘The Wall’ – a hard barrier between the United States and Mexico to the south.

In 2017, immediately after the Charlottesville car attack – in which self-identified white supremacist James Alex Fields Jr. ran over and killed activist Heather Heyer – Trump caused outrage by referring to ‘very fine people on both sides’ of the incident.

Even after clarifying that he wasn’t referring to neo-Nazis and white supremacists as ‘very fine people’, Heyer’s mother Susan Bro said she would not meet or talk with Trump in response.

The events of Trump’s Presidency eventually came to a head on January 6, 2021, when a team of Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol Building in a bid to stop the vote that saw power transferred to new President Joe Biden.

The attack, during which five people died, was the fatal culmination of several attempts by Trump to overturn the election after accusing the Democrats of vote-rigging and electoral fraud.

Fearing another four years of Trump, the Total Recall actress would apparently be happy to move anywhere in Europe, be it Italy or even France.

A friend told the Mail: ‘Sharon has a really beautiful home with her children in Beverly Hills but I know that she did look in Antibes. That was a few years ago but she did not pull the trigger on it.’

The source continued: ‘It’s fair to say that she is thinking about it again. I would say that France is still more likely than Italy.’

Stone began her career in the early 1980s, eventually getting her big break in 1990 with Total Recall, which also starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Then, in 1992, she starred in erotic thriller Basic Instinct alongside Michael Douglas, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for best actress.

Afterward, she starred in numerous box office hits, including Casino in 1995, Catwoman in 2004, and The Disaster Artist in 2017.
