Taylor Swift postpones Eras Tour show over ‘unsafe’ weather as Travis Kelce flies in
It was the second show in Argentina after she kicked off the tour the night before
Taylor Swift has canceled the Friday November 10 Eras Tour concert in Buenos Aires, Argentina, over dangerous weather conditions. The singer took to social media to share the news with fans, revealing it would be rescheduled for Sunday November 12.
“I love a rain show but I’m never going to endanger my fans or my fellow performers and crew. We’ve rescheduled tonight’s Buenos Aires show for Sunday due to the weather being so truly chaotic it would be unsafe to try and put on this concert,” she shared on Twitter and Instagram.
“Good news is I get to stay in Argentina longer!”
During the North American leg of the tour there were several rain storms that hit the show, and she pushed back the start time of the last night of the Nashville shows three hours due to the weather.
When she went on stage, the rain had slowed but a steady downpour hit for the second half, turning the night at the open-air Nissan Stadium into an unforgetable experience for fans and Taylor.
“This is something we’re all doing together. It’s like such a bonding experience. We’re all gonna leave here tonight looking like we just went through five car washes… People will be like, ‘Where were you? Several wars?’ And you’re like, ‘No, I just went to the Eras Tour. It’s fine,'” she quipped to fans midway through the three-hour long set.
The decision comes the same day the singer’s boyfriend Travis Kelce arrived in Argentina, confirming reports he would be flying in on his NFL bye week to see his new beau performing.
The pair’s romance kicked off in September, and she has since been spotted at four of his NFL games, spending time with his mom and dad, Donna and Ed Kelce, and Brittany Mahomes, the wife of pal and team quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Travis had seen the Eras Tour when she stopped in Kansas City, and had spoken on his podcast New Heights how he had hoped to meet Taylor and give her his phone number via a friendship bracelet. He was not able to meet her that night, and it is not clear how the two later connected.
Also on Friday, Taylor found herself nominated for six Grammys, including Album of the Year for her 2022 album Midnights, meaning the 33-year-old could now become the first person ever to win the accolade four times.
The singer has won the major awards three times previously; for Fearless (2009), 1989 (2015), and Folklore (2021). She is the only solo female artist to have ever won three times, with the other winners Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder.
Her nomination in the category puts her tied with Barbra Streisand for the most nods by a woman in Grammy history.
Taylor has also made history by becoming the first person with seven nominations in the prestigious Song of the Year category with her hit, ‘Anti-Hero’.
She was also nominated for Record of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for the ‘Karma’ remix with Ice Spice, and Best Pop Vocal album for Midnights.
It’s been a whirlwind year for the ‘Mastermind’ singer though as she kicked off her global Eras Tour in March 2023, singing for over three hours a night, three times a week, every week for six months.
She closed out the US leg in Los Angeles in mid-August for six nights at So-Fi Stadium, and kicked off the next leg in Argentina on November 9.
